Be a choice maker

We are a product of the choices we make.

Are you in balance with our choice-making and our decision-making? Is there even a difference between these two actions? I believe there is an important distinction to be made between choices and decisions.

Choice-Maker vs. Decision Maker

To be in the Choice Maker role, there is a need to assess what do you believe, what feels in tune with your own values. To be a Choice Maker means that what you deliberately choose is true for you at your core. A Choice Maker connects to the place of personal desired intent, values, consequences, and beliefs.

When you are in the Decision Maker role, there is pressure or a need to make up one's mind. A decision is asking, "what are we trying to accomplish? All decisions are made from a place of needs, constraints, and making the correct and only choice of action. The Decision Maker is always searching for the questions that need to be asked. A feeling of urgency is required as decisions need answers RIGHT NOW! Decision-making connects to a place of behavior, performance, and consequences.

In our fast-paced lives, many of us hop over the inner listening needed to switch into being the Choice Maker. Impulsivity and stress become habit-forming, making it easy to continue in the Decision Maker role. In certain circumstances, quick decisions are needed. For example - being a decision-maker is required when driving a car, protecting a child from harm, helping a family member in need. When you chose to engage the Choice Maker, you have decided to take on the protagonist's role in your life story. You live life positioned in the driver's seat of your car versus the passenger seat, the back seat, or even in the trunk.

Slow Down to Speed Up

Effective decision-making can only flow from a place of choice. Try using the mantra "SLOW DOWN TO SPEED UP" as your reset button to switch into decision vs. choice mode. Practice tools of going inward that allow you to hear your soul's direction on issues asking for action. Choice making is proactive vs. reactive. It is coming from a place of calm, discerning, and balanced inner thoughts.

When you consciously elect when to become a Decision Maker versus a Choice Maker, you're able to design a life that feels in sync with who you are and how you want to live your life.
