Autumn Preparation for Winter Holidays

A tree with orange leaves in autumn. Prepare for the winter season by decluttering your home through autumn cleaning.

We all know about spring cleaning.

No doubt you have gone through the process of decluttering, dusting, scrubbing, and cleansing your home at some point during those early spring months.

Why not use some of your autumn days in preparation for Winter Holidays? Reconnect with the essence of you by grounding yourself in your home, your daily rituals, and routines, re-exploring who you were and who you’ve now become. Release items and clutter that no longer serve you and send your items along to others in need. Here are some steps to help you through that process.

How To Autumn Cleanse and Clear

Within Your Home

  • Spend time in your space. Dust. Scrub. Declutter. Organize.

  • Become aware of the vibration of your home. Do any parts of your home need attention? Perhaps a room needs rearranging. See what needs to be refreshed to uplift the room.

  • As you go through each room, check for clutter and items that need to be moved along. As you do this, you are removing any excess accumulated vibrational energy that no longer belongs in your space. You will instantly feel lighter and clearer, and you will notice a distinct shift in the way the room feels when you walk in.

  • Add nature! Introducing living elements to your home powerfully contributes to how your home feels. Add plants, cut flowers, a large fern. Plants require attention. By including them in your space, you will notice that you become more actively engaged in the space.

  • Finish your Autumn Cleanse and Clear with essential oils in a diffuser, a prayer of thanks and gratitude, and a lit candle.

Wardrobe

  • Go through your wardrobe and clear out items that are old, that no longer fit, or that you do not wear.

  • As you sort through your drawers and closet, listen to uplifting music or a book on tape. Release what no longer serves you. Consider donating your items to a charity that helps others such as “Dress for Success,” Goodwill or a homeless shelter.

Give your future self the gift of a organized home before you start the Holidays!
